The Neuqua Valley boys’ cross country team has qualified for every state meet since 2001, but the team entered this season with an air of uncertainty after Zach Kinne, a renowned all-state runner, moved away over the summer. On Nov. 3, that uncertainty turned into pride as the varsity team secured a third-place finish at the IHSA State Meet in Peoria, IL.
Helping to secure the team’s placement were Michael Madiol and Chris Keeley who finished 19th and 21st. “It’s the best way I could end my career,” Madiol said in a Daily Herald article. The team is now celebrating after proving their place among Illinois’s best cross country runners.
