On November 9, 2017 Neuqua Valley held a Veteran’s Day Ceremony in the auditorium. This ceremony is a tradition at the Valley. The ceremony highlights the sacrifices made and service given in the United States Armed Forces.
On Thursday, Principal Dr. McBride honored two active servicemen on the stage of the Neuqua Auditorium. However they were the only servicemen present, they were not the only ones who would be getting honored that afternoon. A large video screen displayed the recorded messages of Neuqua alumni who were either veterans or actively in service. Each graduate of Neuqua Valley gave a few words of his/her wisdom to the current students and teachers in attendance. Along with alumni, the friends and family of Neuqua Staff were highlighted for their duties in the U.S. Armed Forces.
As well as commemorating individuals who have served or are serving in the armed forces, the Veteran’s Day ceremony incorporated the experiences of people who were greatly impacted by what servicemen and women had done for them. Senior Devan Fischer expressed his gratitude for both of his parents who were apart of the U.S. Navy and a recent alum’s father, Mr. Lac, spoke on behalf of the servicemen who assisted him after the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War. Every year, the ceremony Neuqua displays allows all to reflect on the individuals who risk their lives to keep ours safe.
