A heart-warming event for those in need

76 high school students attended an Interact event in order to make blankets for those in need. The blankets are distributed locally to PADS, a homeless shelter, and each blanket allows someone in need to stay at the shelter, as having a blanket is a requirement for staying there. The advisors also send just over half the blankets through Alliance for the Children. While some of the blankets will end up with kids locally through DCFS, others will go to kids in the poorest parts of the country in West Virginia by the Appalachian Mountains.

“This event has been very successful and we are looking forward to the success of the following events” says Mrs. Schneider. There are are many events coming up listed on nvhsinteract.org. Students may volunteer anytime they are free and signup by clicking the link on the agenda at the website, or by emailing the head of the committee for any event.  The main events for winter include, Naper Lights at Naper Settlement, Santa House, other projects through the Park District, Barnes and Noble gift wrapping (benefitting Feral Fixers) and more.
