The theme for this year is “Why I Am Optimistic About Our Nation’s Future.”
Again this year, the first place winner will receive $1,000 and the opportunity to compete at the next higher level for additional money. The second place winner will receive $500 and third place will receive $250.
The competition is open to all high school students and specific guidelines regarding the competition and entry forms can be obtained at: www.vfw.org/Community/Voice-of-Democracy.
All entries for this year’s competition need to be submitted no later than November 1, 2013. Entries may be dropped off in the canteen at the VFW Post in Naperville. The address for the VFW Post is 908 W. Jackson Avenue and the canteen can be accessed through the rear of the building. Students should place their entries in an envelope and put “Voice of Democracy” and Tom Parker’s name (Coordinator) on the front of the envelope.
