Hilary Duff is most known for her lovable portrayal of Lizzie McGuire, her catchy pop records and her multiple film roles. However, now past her teens, Duff has expanded her talents to perfume and clothing lines, humanitarian work, and most recently to authoring her first book, Elixir. The story of an intriguing love triangle between a celebrated photojournalist and her mysterious soul mate, Elixir hit bookstores this mid-October.
To promote the book’s release, last Saturday the 16th Duff came to Naperville’s own Anderson’s Bookstore to autograph copies pre-ordered from Anderson’s. It was a packed event as fans of Duff pined to meet this former teen idol and current adult role model.
There were about five hundred fans with pre-ordered copies and the rush to get them all signed as fast as possible made procedures very strict. The autographs could not be personalized, only one object could be signed, and only candid photos were allowed.
As the pace rushed through the hundreds, fans only had a brief time to be in the company of Duff. However, she was friendly, made small conversation when she could, attempted to pose for pictures, and successfully met and signed the books of all five hundred fans.
As shown by the frenzy of this event, Duff’s legacy continues to keep her fans loyal and Naperville fans were lucky to have this opportunity. The future remains bright for Duff, hopefully with more films, records, and novels with more exciting events like this one to enjoy.
