Neuqua Knows It Can Dance

September 29, 2010

October in Neuqua is most characterized by Homecoming activities, with Halloween traditions mixed somewhere in between. However, a brand new tradition will take place this October 4th.

Sponsored by the Orchesis Dance Company, Neuqua Knows It Can Dance is Neuqua’s first ever in-house dance competition, where dancers compete to perform in the fall pep rally. Dancers must perform a self-choreographed, memorized routine in groups.

Groups can be as small as one person and as big as twenty people. Group members cannot all be part of a pre-established dance group, like Orchesis or Poms. However, depending on group size, a small number of girls from pre-established groups are allowed to be in a group together, so many groups are small combinations of girls from different dance groups. So, though many of the groups will be small samplings of large dance troupes, the talent will still be huge.

Whether a dancer in an established troupe or not, all dancers are encouraged to participate in this exciting competition. The competition will be held in the Main Gym at 7:00 PM and will be judged by Ms. Frame and four surprise guest judges from the P.E. faculty. The winners will be announced at the competition.

The competition is open to public viewing and all are encouraged to attend this electrifying new addition to Neuqua’s eventful October. There will be much aesthetic talent to enjoy, many Neuqua students to support, and a brand-new event to witness as dancers show that Neuqua knows it can dance.
