The Fine Arts program at Neuqua was recently chosen as a John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts National Schools of Distinction in Arts Education.
Being the only public school awarded, Neuqua has upheld its status as a noteworthy school of excellence in the fine arts category. It was also one of five schools in the entire nation to be honored with this, including schools in Maryland and South Carolina.
To be considered for this award, a school must exemplify the characteristics of directly integrating the arts into the daily education of its students. It must be able to do more than just teach the students in the arts, but also prepare and influence them with ideas that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives.
Neuqua Valley High School has demonstrated all of the necessary aspects in the program to receive this award and has been building that standing since the day it opened. It has made arts education, in such areas as music, visual art, and theatre, an involved and respectable part of the students’ lives that are in it, creating an environment that they can be proud to be a part of.
