Relay for Life a Big Hit

September 29, 2009

Relay for Life is an important event celebrated everywhere around the country and it brings hope for a better future that is cancer-free and it is the reason why many people participate in it. Neuqua Valley High School hosts Relay for Life South Naperville every year on the Neuqua track. For twelve hours, Relay for Life teams fundraise and walk around the track in hopes of a cancer-free world. This year, Neuqua had its highest number of student teams ever participate in Relay for Life which occurred this past June. With 37 Neuqua youth teams, Neuqua raised 37,000 dollars which is 1,000 dollars per youth team. 145,000 dollars in total was raised to help fund cancer research.

The dedication and achievement that the Neuqua Valley students have shown through their participation in Relay for Life these past few years has been magnificent. As Relay for Life wrapped up celebrations at the beginning of this school year, Danielle Fassler mentioned what a wonderful thing that Neuqua has such excitement and passion in their involvement in Relay for Life.

As Relay for Life 2010 plans begin later this year, contact Mrs. Schneider, Mrs. Smart, or Danielle Hoffer who run the Interact community service club if you are interested in making a youth team or participating in the fight against cancer.
