After the enormous success of Casino Royale in 2006, James Bond once again graces the silver screen in the 22nd 007 film, Quantum of Solace. With a budget of $230 million, Quantum of Solace has high expectations to meet, and actor Daniel Craig feels he is up to the task. As the sixth actor to portray James Bond, Craig exceeded fan expectations in 2006 with Casino Royale and helped to gross $594 million at the box office. This may have played a large factor in director Marc Forster’s decision to cast Craig again for his second appearance as 007.Following such memorable Bond portrayers as Sean Connery, Roger Moore, and Pierce Brosnan, Craig had big shoes to fill. However, portraying a leaner, grittier, less sex obsessed 007, Craig has put his own unique spin on the Bond character, and in return has captured the interest of 007 fans everywhere. At least for now, it seems that Craig has secured his position as the new James Bond.
Quantum of Solace begins about three days after the end of Casino Royale with James Bond capturing Mr. White, a middleman of a highly secret terrorist organization. Bond interrogates White attempting to find out information concerning a mysterious organization known only as “Quantum.” Afterwards, Bond joins Camille, a beautiful yet feisty woman who ends up accompanying him on his mission. Camille leads Bond to Dominic Greene, a ruthless business man and a major force within the Quantum organization. Bond discovers Greene’s plans to pose as an environmentalist, stage an overthrow of the Bolivian government, and take control of the South American water supply. In a cluster of murder, betrayal, and deceit, Bond must travel through Austria, Italy, and South America, in an epic adventure to complete his mission of stopping Greene, and preventing the evil organization Quantum from getting its way.
