Perks of Being a Wildcat

October 31, 2008

Everything is an argument. What these arguments are trying to persuade people of might not always be made clear from simple observation by the spectator, but by searching for a pure and simple purpose. Architecture, windows, colors, every detail in society, has the purpose to persuade. Neuqua Valley High School’s argument is a competition to be the best, the most prestigious educational system in the area. Everything about the school showcases its excellence.

What Neuqua students are given is seen by many in the general public as casting a pearl before (what they consider) to be swine. With a skydiver at the fall pep-rally and elaborate fireworks at the Homecoming coronation assembly, the community and people outside of Naperville see Neuqua students as spoiled kids who do not appreciate the perks of attending Neuqua.

Neuqua is filled with plasma screen televisions, smart boards, high tech computers, and every bell (literally) and whistle that can be acquired. Students do not ignore these ‘pearls’, many take advantage of the several opportunities Neuqua offers for students to learn and form memorable experiences. These opportunities can span from technological equipment that aids the students learning to dances with extravagant decorations. The total cost of this fall’s Homecoming Dance was $25,000, which is a price many high schools can not afford. Neuqua students are blessed to attend such a school that can afford so many beneficial items and experiences.

Along with dances, fireworks, skydivers, and technology Neuqua also offers several academic opportunities. The school schedules several college visits for juniors and seniors to learn more about their preferred schools. As well as the College and Career Center that helps students plan what they would like to with their futures, and what university can help them acquire these skills. There are also various clubs that can help students fulfill interests, including anime clubs to break dancing.

The teachers at Neuqua also add another positive quality to the academic atmosphere by offering to stay after or before school to help their students achieve better grades. As well as out of school time, teachers make themselves available during students’ option periods and in the Academic Resource Center where students can meet with other teachers in the same department in the subject they need help in.

Neuqua Valley High School and its administration arrange everything they can in order to benefit the students and to give them anything they believe could improve the students’ academic experience. The students should take advantage of these blessings that come from attending one of the most prestigious schools in the state.
