Flag Football Fun and Glory on the Line

September 10, 2008

Another school year, another flag football season, and another trip to Halas Hall on the line. Yes, it is that time of year again, and the Neuqua Valley flag football teams have assembled and are in fierce competition. As is every year, each team is carefully selected, handpicked, and made for a single purpose: Bears tickets. But more importantly, a chance to play at the legendary Halas Hall, the official practice facility of the Chicago Bears.

Returning flag football veterans and new players alike will battle it out on the gridiron hoping for glory. Many participate merely for the thrill of being in competition. Others compete for the small chance at winning the championship and playing at Halas Hall. There are even a small few that compete for both.

“Flag football is one of the most competitive intramural sports due to the prize that comes with winning the championship,” says senior Joe Page, a member of the Chargers team. “Not everyone can say they’ve played at Halas Hall,” Page says. However, accomplishing that task will not be easy as last years defending champions, the Bears, return again, looking for a repeat.

For those who want to join a flag football team, it is too late for this year, but next year brings a new season, and a new chance at flag football glory. As for this year, it is only a matter of time before the walls of Halas Hall ring with the sound of victory hungry flag football players, and a new champion will be crowned.
